Early on in his career, Huan was identified as a high performer and high-potential leader. By focusing on developing as a leader, Huan quickly advanced through the corporate ladder at RWJBarnabas Health. He leads with compassion and empathy while focusing on someone’s why.

Jill Huck, OTR, MPA Mentor

Jill Huck is the Vice President of Business and Strategic Planning at the Mount Sinai Health System. In her role, she works across the organization to ensure business efficiency and growth in key market areas to ensure the long-term sustainability of the health system.

Her portfolio spans various areas including revenue cycle, OR efficiency, and implementing clinical partnerships or joint ventures with external healthcare organizations.

Jill has a Master of Public Administration in Health Policy and Management from NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. She has worked at Mount Sinai for nearly two decades across multiple sectors of the organization, in both clinical and non-clinical capacities. 

Jill is rewarded by mentoring early careerists. For 5 years she was the site administrator for the NCAF Administrative Fellowship program. She is particularly inspired when working with individuals looking to pivot their career from clinical to administrative and enjoys helping individuals “re-brand” themselves and their careers. She also serves on the board of ACHE NJ.

Joe is a highly skilled healthcare leader with over 25 years of experience in inpatient care, mobile integrated health, and military & disaster medicine.

Throughout his career, Joe has demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities and honed in diverse and challenging environments such as busy emergency departments and the battlefields of Afghanistan. However, his expertise goes beyond patient care, as he is an accomplished strategist with experience in workforce deployment, regulatory affairs, ethics and compliance, and talent development.

Joe's extensive teaching experience is reflected in his undergraduate and professional association faculty positions. He has authored and edited numerous texts on medical transport systems, showcasing his expertise in the field.

As a former medical director, he also helps leaders of organizations develop kind leadership cultures based on the compassionate, servant, and inclusive leadership model paradigms.

The underpinning philosophy to both his workplace bullying and detoxifying toxic cultures work, is mental and physical well-being, so he does a lot of work in that arena too, especially with professionals who are burning out

Dr. Amanda Parsons has amassed extensive experience in physician leadership and population health management. She is currently the Vice President of Medical Care Management, where she oversees the Pediatric, Maternity, Diabetes, HIV, D-SNP, Medicaid, MLTC, and MAP teams.

Prior to that, she was the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of MetroPlusHealth Plan where she oversaw care management (Medicaid/Medicare), Managed Long Term Care, Children’s Special Services and the Social Determinants of Health (SDH) programs.

She was formerly VP of Community & Population Health at Montefiore Health System where she directed community interventions aimed at improving the health and wellness of patients, staff, and communities. She also served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Division of Health Care Access and Improvement at the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) where she was responsible for several Bureaus including the Primary Care Information Project, Correctional Health Services, Primary Care Access and Planning as well Finance, HR and IT. 

She earned her M.D. and M.B.A. from Columbia University and her Bachelor of Science from Boston College where she was a Presidential Scholar. 

Dr. Parsons has served on numerous boards, including NYeC, NYC Health + Hospitals, Vera Institute of Justice and most recently was the Board Chair of VIP Community Services, an FQHC in Bronx, NY. She is a recipient of Crain’s 2015 “40 Under 40” award and 2019 Crain’s “Notable Women in Health Care” award.  She is passionate about helping healthcare organizations improve health outcomes while addressing social risks. She has published a number of papers on the use of Health IT, Quality Measurement, and Social Needs screening.

Dr. Kevin J. Joseph currently serves as a market Chief Clinical Officer of one of the largest healthcare organizations in the country and has recently served as the System Chief Medical Officer for TriHealth.

Previously, he was one of UC Health’s senior vice presidents with responsibility for the operations of its three hospitals: the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, West Chester  Hospital, and Drake Hospital. This was preceded by a successful tenure as the President & CEO of West Chester Hospital, where he led the executive team in driving the hospital to the top 10th percentile in the country for safety and quality, and the top 5th percentile in the country for patient experience. He has also worked with the FBI, the Secret Service, and the Cincinnati S.W.A.T.  team. 

Most recently, he has published a book on healthcare leadership titled “Cracking the Healthcare Leadership Code: How Purpose, Humility, and Accessibility Can Transform Your Organization.” 

As a lifelong student, he has obtained three bachelor's degrees from Johns Hopkins University: Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, and Psychology. He later graduated from Vanderbilt  University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Cincinnati. While practicing emergency medicine Dr. Joseph received an MBA. 

Dr. Joseph is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Association for Physician Leadership, and the American College of Emergency Physicians. His free time is  occupied watching his two children play sports, traveling with his family to snow and water ski,  and playing various racquet sports.   

Lana Vardanian, MD, FACP

Dr. Lana Vardanian is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer at the NY Hotel Trades Council and The Hotel Association of NYC Employee Benefit Funds.

She joined this employer-funded healthcare organization in 2019 and was at the helm of it, navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic and post-COVID transition and restructuring.

This organization provides care for NYC hospitality workers and is truly a value-based organization.

Prior to that, Dr. Vardanian served as the CMO for the Accountable Care Organization of the largest public hospital system in the country- New York City’s Health and Hospital Corporation.

She led the ACO to the successful accomplishment of shared savings in years 4 and 5, setting the program on a path for continued success going forward. Dr.Vardanian joined NYC H+H in 2013 as the Director of Ambulatory Care at Coney Island Hospital, tasked with developing the Department of Ambulatory Care. When the Department was eventually established in 2016, she became its chair.

Prior to her employment with NYCH+H, she worked at the University of California, Davis as a Primary Care physician. Her passion for medicine, especially longitudinal care which is the essence of Primary Care, made her well-known to her peers and patients alike.

Dr. Vardanian is always eager to share her clear creative vision of value-based care to meet patient needs in the new millennium.

Dr. Vardanain is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She is currently serving as President of the Manhattan district of the NY Chapter of the ACP.

Madaline Theresa, MD

Dr. Madaline earned her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in 2008. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Mount Sinai in 2011 and graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Infectious Diseases Fellowship program in 2013. 

Dr. Madaline served as Clinical Director of Infectious Diseases at Montefiore’s Einstein Campus and developed an innovative patient safety and quality curriculum for medical students. She pioneered the Montefiore outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy program, utilizing a transitional care model to reduce 30-day readmissions. 

After completing a Clinical Quality Fellowship in 2016, she began facilitating Montefiore’s Health System Quality Collaborative and leading the health system’s sepsis and central line-associated bloodstream infection improvement initiatives. Dr. Madaline’s innovative team-based sepsis response program reduced severe sepsis and septic shock mortality by 40% and improved antimicrobial prescribing. 

In 2018, Dr. Madaline became the Healthcare Epidemiologist for Montefiore Health System, overseeing the Infection Prevention and Control program, liaising with public health agencies, and leading preparedness and outbreak response including the health system’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In 2020, Dr. Madaline joined NYC Health and Hospitals as the Chief Quality Officer for Coney Island Hospital. In that role, she created a curriculum and training program for performance improvement education, joined the system’s COVID analytics and emergency response team, and spearheaded numerous improvement initiatives including optimization of patient flow, stroke management, care experience, hospital-acquired infection prevention, breast cancer screening, medication safety, water management, workplace violence, and automated hand hygiene system implementation. 

Dr. Madaline’s research and quality improvement work is focused on improving care and safety through effective communication and multidisciplinary collaboration, innovation and technology, and decision support. She is passionate about empowering women in healthcare through mentorship and advocacy. She serves as Vice Chair of the Quality Improvement Committee of IDSA, serves on the webinar subcommittee for SHEA, serves as faculty for the Greater New York Hospital Association Clinical Quality Fellowship Program, and volunteers with the Civil Rights Education and Enforcement Center and Physicians for Human Rights Asylum Network.

Dr. Vonetta George is from the island nation Antigua & Barbuda. She is a Consultant General Surgeon and Chief of Surgery at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC). She is also the Deputy Medical Director.

She has been a medical doctor for over 15 years after completing her Medical Degree and graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Medical Sciences, Camaguey, Cuba. She also holds a Master's Degree in Emergency Medicine and a specialty degree in General Surgery from the aforementioned Medical University. She is passionate about healthcare and completed her Master’s in Healthcare Administration in 2016. 

Dr. George is a Member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, The Antigua and Barbuda Medical Association, The Pan-American Trauma Society, The American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Caribbean Society of Endoscopic Surgeons. She is a Fellow of The Caribbean College of Surgeons and The American College of Surgeons. She is also the Chair of the Antigua and Barbuda Medical Council, the body responsible for registering and licensing physicians. 

As a General Surgeon at MSJMC, Dr. George manages pediatric surgical emergencies, along with neonatal surgical emergencies, adult surgical pathologies, trauma, and cancer surgical care. As a member of the administrative/medical executive teams, she is involved in formulating strategies and managing medical departments. Dr. George is involved in Health Sector Disaster management and is Antigua & Barbuda’s focal point for the WHO Emergency Medical Team (EMT) Initiative and the immediate past Chair of the EMT of the Americas Strategic Advisory Group. 

She enjoys singing, spinning, watching movies, and playing with her dog “Beans.”She hopes to run in 100m & 200m races at the Senior Olympic Games once she reaches qualifying age.

Rony Rinat, Ph.D. is a Social/Organizational Psychologist with over 30 years of experience. He is the founder of Leadership Aspects, a consulting firm specializing in organization, leadership, and talent development, executive and team coaching, and change leadership.

Rony has always been fascinated by the psychology of groups and organizations and the impact they have on individuals and vice versa. He believes that the key to organizational success lies at the intersection of leadership and culture. A leader’s role is to courageously envision a future, incorporate individual interests into a collective one, and create psychological safety for others to willingly and enthusiastically follow.

In his 30-year career at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, most recently as its Chief Learning Officer and Vice President of Leadership and Organization Development, he enhanced employee skills and engagement; led organization development initiatives for executives, management, and staff; launched talent management, organization development, and leadership and learning development initiatives; established and implemented an organization-wide learning strategy and infrastructure; and oversaw the execution and evaluation of structured learning programs that reached all 19,000 employees.

Prior to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Rony served as the Director of Management and Organization Development at the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, which operates the public hospitals and clinics in the city. Rony also taught in the Master of Science Program in Industrial and Labor Relations at City University of New York Baruch College.

Rony earned a Doctorate Degree at Columbia University in Social and Organization Psychology. He studied with Professor Morton Deutsch, a pioneer in social psychology, and Professor Warner Burke, one of the founders of organization development.

Joel pursued his passion for helping others when he became an EMT and EMS volunteer in Rockland County in 1979. He became a paramedic and began working in the Yonkers 911 system in 1980 for A-A Ambulance and then Empress Ambulance. He migrated to New York City and worked midnights in the NYC 911 system in Midtown Manhattan. During that time he assisted in bringing paramedics to Rockland County by becoming one of the original paramedics in North Rockland for Nyack Hospital and as a volunteer paramedic for the South Orangetown Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He has continued to care for the people of Rockland County, currently with Rockland Paramedic Services, for over 35 years.

Joel has also been a practicing trial attorney for over 26 years. He is admitted to practice in and before the Courts of the State of New York, Supreme Court of the United States of America, and the Federal District Courts of the Southern and Eastern of New York. Joel is a member of the American, New York State, New York County, and Westchester County Bar Associations, as well as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and New York Trial Lawyers Association. Joel is currently a partner at Wilson, Bave, Conboy, Cozza, and Couzens, P.C. and serves as general counsel for Volunteer Ambulance Corps. supporting them and their members in dealing with their everyday legal obligations and interactions, including reinforcing and sustaining their corporate structure. Joel is also vice-president and Chief Legal Counsel for the Hudson Valley Paramedic Association, which strives to give recognition to Paramedics and EMTs and their significant impact on our society. Joel is also a regular lecturer and adjunct professor on all medical-legal topics concerning physicians and pre-hospital care providers.

Errol Olton is an Organizational Strategist who uses an energetic and inclusive approach towards building high-performing teams. He believes that a vision statement should live beyond a wall poster, instead being embodied into each staff member’s values, actions, and measured progression towards their goals. In 2020, Errol led a TEDx Talk where he emphasized the importance of seeing “the faces behind the data”, finding meaning beyond numerical statistics, inspiring companies to re-imagine their impact. Highlights of his work include:

  • Organizational Development: building highly effective teams, affirming positive team culture, change management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning

  • Workforce Development: founded the career development company Resume Tailor, co-founded an educational nonprofit consultancy Co-Plan It, and pioneered the launch of a NYC community adult education program model
